P.S staying in defence attache's house behind armed guards. Also, great to see Charlotte Bayliss last night.

  28. Good Luck guys! Maybe not see you canterbury... but definately see you in London to celebrate!

  29. Good luck guys - only 1,622.55 miles to go! See you in Canterbury!

  30. Thanks for stopping last weekend. At one point I wondered if you were going to ride on by! I made the church no problems, if a little oily and sweaty. Tip - hitch hiking with a bike is much more successfull if you take the wheels off and put it on your shoulder. Safe ride boys and see you in Canterbury. F

  31. Overton - Beaminister - Wincanton / Salisbury / Overton

Our final training ride before the big challenge. With Alec still in bed and Charlie preparing for singles night at the Dance Attic (After party venue 24th October) it was left to Henry & Tom to cycle the 90 miles to Beaminster, a beautiful day and an absolute gem of a town. Through Salisbury we picked up Alec "over the limited" Bartlett and journeyed across Wiltshire into Dorset and even had time to visit our old school. Sunday saw us all leave for different destinations home but the hill out of Beaminister proved there will be fierce competition for the poka dot jersey. See you boys in Rome......

  33. If anyone is looking at our photographs (including the one above) and is thinking.... "I want to go cycling in Wales too, it looks so beautiful", then do because it is stunning in the Brecon national park.

    We stayed in a B&B ......

Organised by 'mr romantic' himself Tom, it really is a little gem either for a lads/gals bonding weekend, a family get away or a romantic escape.

My huge thanks and appreciation goes to the owners Liz and Derick who were so welcoming and liz makes an excellent nurse....! I'm not sure what I would have happened without her when I had my crash. Top draw.

  34. London - Rolvenden Layne - London

Made the 130 mile round trip into the depths of Kent to spend the weekend at the landlords family pad. Many thanks to Mark and Rose Collins for not only their hospitality but also their donation to the Charity. Botley Hill on the return journey felt like Mont Ventoux.............

  35. Just been out for a quick spin on the Trek I got at the auction last night; it runs well & is very light. I'll be using it a lot !

Many thanks for a fabulous night & the added entertainment this morning getting the Dodgem trucks out !

Hope you raised loads of £££ & look forward to news about THE ride when it takes place......keep training !

  36. and I thought I was a keen cyclist! Looking forward to the weekend. Pete is wearing leather trousers. Nice xx

  37. London - Temple Farm - London

170 mile solo round trip covered in 10hrs over Saturday and Sunday for Count Goess-Saurau weekend bash. Was stopped by the Police flying a red light in Reading. Received the biggest telling off since school but unlike Henry the other day escaped without a fine! Looking forward to creating the peleton again in the hills of Wales next weekend.....

  38. Charlie couldnt even drive a car properly here in South Africa where is he going to be able to ride a bicycle, Just joking

  39. good luck guys, its really a great accomplishment

  40. Charlie, if you can't stay on two wheels, the continental roads will take a tricycle!

  41. London - Orford - London

Another weekend, another 240 miler. A weekend of firsts: the first collective two day trip saw us cycle to Suffolk, encounter our first burst tyre, first crash and first whole day’s cycling into head winds and rain. Luckily we were well supported by the hospitable Max and Lolly who gave us a superb supper in Orford, a couple of Adnams and a comfortable night’s sleep. We owe you our thanks for a lovely evening and thanks also to the Good Samaritan Jill who nursed Mr Pushman better with tea and ice following his inexplicable crash.

Our collective fitness showed as we breezed through the wind, rain and delights of East London to arrive back in good time feeling confident for longer trips to come.

  42. Good luck lads - we're the three you saw at Windsor on Sunday! We made it back to Putney about 8pm in the end, had to cycle into a headwind along the A4 which wasn't easy. Just looked at your itinerary - there's quite a bit of climbing to do! I'm sure you'll be fine though.

  43. London - Wargrave - London (78 miles)

Day started with a mechanical test with our first broken chain. 45mins later & we were on route to Wargrave. Stop by Windsor Castle proved random as by chance we met 3 guys doing the London to Rome trip.

Lunch with Jess, Sarah, Nigel & Sam by the river, followed by a tinkle on the water in Bess and a quick net session.

Beautiful day in the sun beaten only in joy by an F1 esque pitt stop repairing a puncture. Cornwall had clearly paid off.

  44. Polzeath - Newquay - Delabole

What promised to be a challenging weekend spent climbing Cornish hills developed into a technical bonding trip. We developed our climbing techniques on the drawing board at an ale and pie festival whilst we got to know the important team members in the confines of a Polzeath caravan. Cycling in short, intense bursts up steep inclines and down sharp descents was a good introduction to the central European mountains and Mr Pushman’s bike finely tuned our puncture repair skills. 80 miles covered in a couple of days was testament to the fine weather, Rattler and Mr Motivator Bishop being absent.

  45. Aldgate East - Duxford - Hackney

7:30am start for team BCR. We headed North towards Cambridge with our peleton slicing through the strong head wind. Pace setters of Alec, Tom & Charlie ensured Stage victory for Henry. An easy round trip of 100 miles covered though witnesses to Charlie's dancing on Saturday night prove otherwise......

  46. dedication or perversion?

  47. London - Oxford - London

7.15am Start for Alec & Tom. After a 2hr 40 mile session before breakfast Oxford was reached in record time. 140 miles covered in 10 hours. Comment of the day as we cycled past Spearmint Rhino on the A4, Alec to Tom, "the sound of your wheel turning is turning me on" That's dedication.......

  48. Well done boys! Keep up the training - received the invitation in the post for the ball - canni wait! Very impressed with the organisation etc.... best of luck.

    Love Lamber xx

    PS - loving the photos!!

  49. London - Canterbury - London

7am start for groggy eyes and the new clip in shoes quickly proved entertaining with alec & charlie both falling.

    130 miles covered in 12h45mins.

lesson learnt - dont forget the lube.

  50. 02/04/09 9.00am Henry Hunt spotted near Angel on white and red racing bike.

Nice bikes boys, my rationale is that your saddle shouldn't be smaller than your hand, but you can't knock those beauts on weight.

    x

  51. First training ride London to Brighton and back again- success!

Now time to purchase some bikes.
